Announcing New Partnership with the Toronto Maple Leafs!
Submitted By Voula Bertsoulakis on Saturday, August 19, 2017
Press Release from the Toronto Maple Leafs:

In an effort to help shape the future of hockey, the NHL, the NHLPA, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Unionville Minor Hockey Association are pleased to incorporate the “Learn to Play” program for players in the mite division for the 2017-18 minor hockey season. This unique player development program will strengthen the Unionville hockey program while changing the way hockey is offered and inspire new families to join the Unionville Minor Hockey Association.

The Unionville program is one of 15 programs the NHL, NHLPA and the Toronto Maple Leafs will work with in the Toronto Maple Leaf market. The new partnership brings barrier free opportunities and development programming to children within the Unionville program.

The program will provide FREE head-to-toe equipment to children ages 4 to 6 who are first time registered athletes through Hockey Canada (never registered with another minor hockey association). The program will also offer visits by a pre-selected member of our Alumni and a Youth Development coach. This exciting news is one of many ways the NHL, NHLPA, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Unionville Minor Hockey Association is helping attract new families to join the Unionville hockey community and help grow the game.

In order to qualify, players must be:

    • Between the ages of 4 and 6 and registered in our Mite Program
    • Have never registered with another minor hockey association (No previous Hockey Canada Record)

Message from the UMHA:

Additional information will be made available on our website once it becomes available.
