Toronto Maple Leaf Partnership has Begun!
Submitted By Karie McDougall on Thursday, September 28, 2017
This week the UMHA kicked off the new "Learn to Play" Hockey program in partnership with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the NHL and the NHLPA.

Over 80 players between the ages of 4 and 6 who qualified for the program were invited to an equipment fitting with the Toronto Maple Leaf Development Team at Angus Glen where each player received a complete set of CCM equipment FREE of charge.  This included gloves, elbow pads, shoulder pads, pants, socks, skates, hockey bag, helmet and stick, all stamped with the Toronto Maple Leaf Logo.

The Toronto Maple Leaf Fan Zone was also on hand during the fittings for all parents and players to enjoy.

All players in the "Learn to Play" Program will have the opportunity to be invited to a skill development session with a Toronto Maple Leaf Alumnus along with the Toronto Maple Leaf Skill Development Team during the season.  This is in combination with their weekly skill sessions with head instructors Chris Unitas (UnitasHockey) and Brett Punchard (Falcon Hockey Group).

A special thanks to the Joe and Rick at the Sk8shop for providing all families with a FREE skate sharpening voucher.  Vouchers can be redeemed at the store located inside Angus Glen Arena or at their 2nd location at 280 YorkTech Unit 15.  For more information about SK8Shop, please click here.

The UMHA is proud to partner with the Toronto Maple Leafs and we look forward to continuing with this partnership until 2022!!!

Registration is currently closed for this season.  If you know of someone who is interested in starting hockey and would like to be a part of the Toronto Maple Leaf "Learn to Play" Program next season, registration will reopen in April 2018.
