Programs (Unionville Minor Hockey Association)

The Unionville Minor Hockey Association offers a minor hockey program for boys and girls ages 4 to 21. Our program runs from late September to the end of March. Our main arenas are Angus Glen Community Centre and Crosby Memorial Community Centre.

The UMHA offers two programs: House League and Select.

House League

House League is an entry level hockey program available to all players no matter what skill level. There is no body checking in House League hockey in the UMHA. All players receive equitable ice time.

The UMHA divides players among teams based on a computer program so that teams are as balanced as possible. All House League teams (excluding Mini Mite and Mite) participate in both regular season games and playoff games in the Tyke and higher divisions.

Select level play is also offered by the UMHA through the Jets program. The most skilled players from House League can attend tryouts which are typically held in September.

Mite and Tyke Jets teams play in the York Simcoe Minor Hockey League. Novice and higher Jets teams play in the North York Hockey League.

Typically, Jets select teams practice and play about twice a week in addition to the House League schedule. All Jets players must play on, and practice with, a House League team in addition to their Jets team and all Jets players must reside in the City of Markham.

Representative (Rep) hockey is also available to our players through the Markham Unionville Waxers. Tryouts are typically held in April.

The UMHA and Markham Minor Hockey Association are joint sponsors of the Markham Unionville Waxers AAA, AA, A and AE level teams. The top players from each of our House Leagues can try out for these Rep teams in the spring every year. Markham Unionville Waxers Rep teams play against other Ontario Minor Hockey Association Rep teams. Rep players do not play House League.
