From: Phillip McKee - OHF Executive Director
Date: 6/26/2017

The Ontario Hockey Federation is pleased to announce the launch of a new training module for team officials (all bench staff), to support trans-inclusive hockey in Ontario, Understanding Discrimination based on Gender Identity and Gender Expression Training.

There are two modules which will educate team officials on this important topic. For team officials already assigned to a team, completion of these modules will be a required by October 31st (UMHA decision). For team officials named within a month of or after October 1, they will have 30 days to complete both modules.

“The Ontario Hockey Federation is proud to be at the forefront of trans-inclusive sport and is glad to be working with Hockey Northwestern Ontario and Hockey Eastern Ontario through is process,” said Tony Foresi, OHF President.

This process started in 2013, when a complaint to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario was filed against Hockey Canada alleging discrimination in services based on gender identity.

In order to sign up for the required clinic the first step is to ensure that all team officials have an eHockey account.  Those who do not already have an eHockey account can click the following link to sign up.

Once your account has been established, or for those who already have an account, please click on the link below to be directed to the OHF landing page for more information on the training and to course registration (no costs). Team officials once on landing page will access the course registration via the link and then be responsible for registering for the Gender Identity and Expression Course. Upon registering for the clinic, team officials will receive an email with instructions for completing the modules.

Questions related to the content of the modules can be directed to the OHF, [email protected].

Questions related to technical issues, can be directed to 226-533-9073 or 226-533-9071
